This get-together offers an informal opportunity for students, PhD researchers, and postdoctoral researchers to share their personal experiences and engage in discussions related to academia and sustainable welfare. In the next meeting, we will in particular talk about upcoming conferences that might be interesting to attend as well as our ongoing projects.
Our meetings usually take place via zoom directly before or after the colloquium. The concrete time will be announced on the homepage as well as via our mailing list.
If you are interested in joining us, you can sign up for our mailing list by sending an e-mail to: jana.brandl(at)univie.ac.at or robin.schulze_waltrup(at)uni-bielefeld.de

Upcoming meetings
Early-Career Researchers Meeting
The date of the next meeting will be announced soon.
Book Club
In addition to the regular meetings we have decided to initiate a Book Club. The idea is to read books relevant to our work to discuss them together. We choose the books together.
The first book is ‘Governing the Commons. The Evolution of Institution for Collective Action’ by Elinor Ostrom.
The second book is the edited volume by Domorenok, E., Graziano, P., & Zimmermann, K. (2025). The Eco-Social Polity?: Theoretical, Conceptual and Empirical Issues. Policy Press.
The next Book Club meeting will take place on Wednesday, the 19th of November at 14:00 (here the link to the Zoom room).
We will be reading and discussing:
- Chapter 4: The-growth-independent welfare state by Laura Wiman, Raphael Kaufmann, Katharina Bohnenberger, and Steffen Lange.
- Chapter 5: When the lifeworld colonises the system: the uncertain political prospects of eco-social transitions by Daniel Hausknost
of the edited volume The Eco-Social Polity? Theoretical, Conceptual and Empirical Issues (available here).
